How to Silently Activate an Old-Style License from a New-Style Key via the Command-Line Interface
The purpose of this article is to demonstrate how to silently activate an equivalent old-style license key on your machine via the command-line interface. Customer's who would benefit from this page are those who are looking to create an automated build pipeline that uses older ComponentOne controls which only recognize the legacy 24 alphanumerical character licensing keys, rather than the new-style 19 digit keys that are distributed now. Below are the steps required for this process to work:
1. Be sure you already have the new-style 19 digit license key activated on the machine, and that you have no older 24 alphanumerical character license keys activated on the machine, as these will prevent the remaining steps from working properly. You can find instructions on activating your new-style 19 digit license key via the command-line interface here.
2. Run the following line via the command-line interface:
C:\Program Files (x86)\ComponentOne\C1StartMenu\C1LicenseActivation.exe /gcdetect
That's it! You now have an old-style license (along with your new-style license) activated on your machine, and should be able to build applications utilizing older controls without issues relating to the machine licensing.
