Empty Textboxes Leave Line Breaks in DOCX Exports

My company has started using Active Reports 11 to create some new letters for one of our clients. Things were going well but I’ve hit a snag that I can’t figure out how to work around.

Textboxes with conditional content never seem to fully disappear when exporting as a DOCX, they always leave behind at least a line break even when CanShrink = True. I’ve tried setting the textbox visibility to hidden but then even more line breaks appear to fill the space of the hidden textbox. I’ve even tried setting the content to null, but the linebreak still persists. Everything looks fine in the preview and when I export to other formats like PDF, so I suspect it has something to do with either my textbox settings or the export process.

Unfortunately changing to a different file type is not a possibility as the client wants to be able to occasionally edit the content of a letter in Word after it’s been generated. DOC files export in a not so user friendly state and would not be an acceptable replacement, though I believe they suffer from the same issue as the DOCX files.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello,

This issue is with the development team. Will update you once there is any information.

Sorry to mention that there is no workaround to overcome this issue.

I’m not sure where to track the item you’ve listed above.

The tracking ids are for internal use only. The tracking system is actually not exposed in public. If you want to track the status for a particular issue, you can anytime ask the team over the same thread.

    Thanks,

    Mohit

Has there been any progress on resolving this bug?

    Hello,

This is the known issue of the DocxExport. Initially, it was treated as the limitation of Docx export because it would require a lot of code changes in the exporting engine and might break other things. Our developers’ team are working on this issue to overcome this limitation. I cannot provide you estimate time on this issue. Will inform you once we have fixed this.

I’m extremely sorry for the inconvenience

    Thanks,

    Mohit
