GrapeCity Developer Solutions Releases ActiveReports 13

Pittsburgh, PA – January 16th, 2019 GrapeCity, a global provider of award-winning enterprise software development tools, is pleased to announce the release of ActiveReports 13 with exciting new features that include a ProDesigner for Web, a JavaScript viewer, overhauled charts, a FormattedText control, and new VSDesigner enhancements. ActiveReports 13 upgrades developers' design toolkit for intuitive and dynamic reports for the enterprise and beyond.

The new ActiveReports 13 ProDesigner for Web enables users to create ad-hoc reports directly in a web-based reporting application. With only a few lines of code, developers can easily embed the ProDesigner for Web, empowering end-user teams to design, create, and modify reports. End users can create or open existing reports in a design view to manipulate and preview the layout for a WYSIWYG result. Familiar and simple drag-and-drop functionality allows users to change a control's position and size, and modify control properties like data binding, formatting, or expressions. The fully-customizable web version supports full customization, so developers can decide which features end users can use. Learn more about the ProDesigner for Web in the release announcement

Along with the ProDesigner for Web, ActiveReports 13 includes an all-new viewer to further enhance its powerful reporting engine. JSViewer is a JavaScript library that can run on any modern browser, providing a fast rendering experience. Major web application frameworks are supported by JSViewer, including Angular, Vue, ASP.NET Core, ASP.NET MVC, and HTML. A familiar .NET-like syntax for embedding and customizing the JSViewer minimizes the developer learning curve. Additional features include one-touch printing, exporting to major formats, and CSS theming. For more about the JSViewer, visit the website

The third major feature implemented in ActiveReports 13 is an enhanced charts experience. These charts are created specifically for RDL and Page reports on the web and offer improved interactivity and performance. For more about ActiveReports charts, visit the release article

As one of ActiveReports' more popular controls, FormattedText is used to render HTML text within a report. In ActiveReports 13, the FormattedText control is enhanced to support additional HTML tags and attributes like table, text alignment, and styling. Users can now see the rendered text in the control at design time.

ActiveReports is one of the few vendors to have a report designer integrated directly into Visual Studio. Release 13 improves the depths of this integration by extending your Visual Studio theme to the ActiveReports designer and its supporting windows. This provides a positive UI change for the designer.

"ActiveReports users have requested the web designer for a long time, and they’ll find the new ProDesigner for Web control to be modern, easy-to-use, and easy to implement," said Jody Handley, Product Marketing Manager at GrapeCity. "The software updates have made ad hoc reporting a truly dynamic and creative experience."
