I’m trying to upgrade my project files to use 4.5.2 components from 4.0 components, and I’m now getting an evaluation version message on projects that did not used to show this message. I also cannot figure out how to edit the new *.gclicx file that was automatically created with the addition of the 4.5.2 references to my projects to resolve the issue. Can you please provide guidance on how to remove this message?

Note that I have followed the instructions located here as much as is possible using the *.gclicx file: https://www.grapecity.com/componentone/docs/license/online-license/getting-splash-screen.html

    Hi Justin,

Could you please share the following information with us.

    1. Are you using C1 controls from Nuget?

    2. Could you please check whether the C1 license is activated on your system or not using GrapeCity License Manager (gclm.exe) present at location C:\ProgramData\GrapeCity\gclm.

    3. Does your project contains a licenses.licx file? If not could you please try adding it with the information of the controls used in your project. In case licences.licx file is already present then please make sure it doesn’t contain version information of the previous C1 controls.

Just in case required you may also refer here for information regarding the new licensing model.

    Hi Kartik,

Thank you for the response. I am using the 4.5.2 controls installed via the ComponentOne Control Panel. I am not using any ComponentOne Nuget packages.

The C1 license is activated on my machine. I see three items: ComponentOne Studio Enterprise (activated), ComponentOne WinForms Edition (not activated), and ComponentOne WPF Edition (not activated). I assume that my active license for ComponentOne Studio Enterprise is sufficient.

My project does not contain a licenses.licx file. My understanding is that those are being phased out in favor of the *.gclicx file, so I didn’t think that one was required. I will try adding one to my project and see if that fixes the issue.

(Edit) It appears that adding the licenses.licx file does resolve the issue. However, this seems like a workaround. Will there be a fix that only utilizes the *.gclicx file? I think that the *.licx solution will only continue to work until we start moving to newer technologies.

    Regards,

    Justin

    Hi Justin,

Thank you for sharing the information.

You can try generating runtime license for your project using GrapeCity License Manager Add-In.

Please refer here to know how to generate runtime license

    https://www.grapecity.com/componentone/docs/license/online-license/uwp-app.html

JFYI, the above link shows generating runtime license for UWP apps. However, you can use those steps to generate runtime license for WPF apps too and it will add an updated [ProjectName].gclicx file to your project root directory.

Please let us know if you face any issue.

    Regards,

    Kartik
