Wijmo's DropDown control now has Excel-like keyboard support across all its base classes, including ComboBox, AutoComplete, InputDate, InputTime, InputColor, MultiSelect, and others.
About Keyboard Support for DropDown
Wijmo’s DropDown control is the base class for all Wijmo controls that have drop-downs, including ComboBox, AutoComplete, InputDate, InputTime, InputColor, MultiSelect, and others.
In addition to mouse support (via drop-down buttons), the DropDown control also provides keyboard support. Users may press the F4 key as well as shift or alt up/down keys to toggle the state of the drop-down panel. These shortcuts are consistent with the behavior of Excel as well as native and .NET controls.
We recently improved the FlexGrid editing module to support the same shortcuts so users can edit cells in data-mapped columns using the keyboard. This improved the control’s usability and the consistency of controls within the Wijmo library.
Here is a screenshot showing the FlexGrid control after pressing the F4 key on a data-mapped column. The user can now select an item using the cursor keys and commit the edits by pressing Enter:
