Wyn 4.0 Launches with API Enhancements, Integrations for Embedded BI, and More
Pittsburgh, PA – June 11th, 2020 GrapeCity, a global provider of award-winning enterprise software development tools, is pleased to announce Wyn 4.0. With this launch, end-users will find many new features and enhancements for Wyn Enterprise Server, WynDashboards, and WynReports. In Wyn Server, there have been updates to the API, integrations for embedded BI, dataset enhancements, and much more. WynDashboards includes new visualization options, enhanced dashboard interactivity, and more, while WynReports announces a new report designer, report design-time UX improvements, and several other new features.
In Wyn Enterprise Server , this latest release provides a Wyn 4.0 installer, which supports silent installations. Now, organizations can silently install Wyn during the installation of the target application. The Wyn login page includes advanced customization options. Administrators can now specify custom CSS and HTML for the login page. With the updated URL integration, users have the ability to specify a portal's custom theme, allowing multi-tenant deployments to support different themes for different users. In addition to enhancements made to Wyn's API and embedded BI integrations, web-based JSON data sources support parameterized URLs. With these URLs, Excel data sources will give more detailed error messages if there is a failure during creation.
In WynDashboards, several new visualization options are currently available. The Calculation Chart (Calc Chart) enables users to bind a dataset to this chart, then utilize an Excel-like spreadsheet plug-in directly in the visualization for calculation on aggregated values. This spreadsheet plug-in is capable of almost all Excel functions, which provides dashboard authors with more power when visualizing their ad hoc calculated values. In addition to the new visualization options, users can define links between datasets, so visualizations using different datasets can be cross-filtered with each other, as long as the two datasets have a "linking" attribute available (the same field in both).
The release of Wyn 4.0 includes new features and improvements in the usability of many different WynReports functions. One of the most notable enhancements of this release is the latest implementation of the reporting engine. The new version of this designer means new tools in the report designer toolbox (including design-time support for BandedList) allows authors to work with the same structure as Section reports (Header-Detail-Footer). Along with updates to the report designer, improvements have been made to the overall UX at design-time for end-users. In the Tablix Wizard, users can easily switch Rows and Columns for a more straightforward way to customize Tablices in their reports.
"With new features for administrators and end-users alike and significant enhancements in usability throughout, Wyn Enterprise 4.0 makes it easier than ever to provide faster time to insights and bring your data to life," said Technical Account Manager, Ethan Conner.
