  Hi,

  I would like to create a custom textCellType and I only want to override the paint method.

  let textCellType = function () { };
  textCellType.prototype = new GC.Spread.Sheets.CellTypes.Base();
  textCellType.prototype.paint = function (ctx, value, x, y, w, h, style, context) { }

  If I do this, the cell does not react on input anymore, ie. on typing or doublicking the cell the editor is not shown up.

  Do I need to override another method?

  Hi Thom,

  Instead of Base Class, you need to use the Text Class so that you could edit the Cell by typing or double clicking the cell.

  Kindly refer to the following code snippet. If you use the Text Class, you don’t want to override any other method and you could simply override only the paint method.

  function TextCellType() {
  }
  TextCellType.prototype = new GC.Spread.Sheets.CellTypes.Text();
  TextCellType.prototype.paint = function (ctx, value, x, y, w, h, style, options) {
      //Paints a cell on the canvas. 
      style.backColor = "yellow";
      GC.Spread.Sheets.CellTypes.Text.prototype.paint.apply(this, [ctx, value, x, y, w, h, style, options]);
  };
  
  sheet.getRange(0, 0, 5, 1).cellType(new TextCellType());

  In the above code snippet, the paint method has been overridden and backColor “yellow” is set.
