I’m having trouble with a data table defaulting to sums when I assign a cell’s value to a dataset field. For example when I drag the Item field to the table cell, it defaults to =Sum(Fields!Item.Value) instead of only =Fields!Item.Value. I can manually change them all but another problem occurs that may be related. When I run the report, the table displays only the first record in the collection. I know the collection I send it in code contains multiple records. Report attached. Thanks for any help.

    Hello Jim,

Thank you for reaching out to Mescius Support.

It is quite strange as we do not face such issues at our end. Please share your report with dummy data, along with the steps to reproduce the behavior, so that we can replicate the same behavior at our end and assist you further accordingly.

    Regards,

    Prabhat Sharma.

I really need your help with this - please. Let me try to restate the main problem as simply as possible. I have a rdlx report containing a table. Data source is set by vb.net software. I’ve done this before successfully - set the data source in software and display all the records of a list collection in the table. I do the same thing here but the table in this report displays only the first record of the list. I know my data source is correct so it seems like there’s something wrong with my report, attached. Thanks for your help.Report3.zip

My apology. I didn’t realize you had replied until I refreshed my web page pointed to this site. Usually I get an email notice that you replied but for some reason did not receive one this time. I need some time to put together a small project with dummy data to test with. I am out of the office tomorrow so expect to see it early next week. Again, my apology.

    Hello Jim,

Thank you for sharing your report file.

We can see in your report layout that the table that you are using does not contain the details row, which is why you are not getting all the values of the list.

To fix this, kindly add the details row in the table and bind the cell with your database fields.

If you still face the issue, please share your stripped-down project so that we can assist you further accordingly.

I’m still having trouble with this. Could you please explain how to “add the details row in the table” or to convert an existing row into a details row? Please take me through this step by step. Thanks you.

    Hello Jim,

As of now, it is not possible to convert the existing row into a details row. You can simply right-click on the table to add a details row and bind your data with the respective cells.

Please see the attached video for reference, and feel free to write back if you still face any issues.

To learn more about the table, please check the reference documentation link given below:

Okay, I think I successfully added a details row to the table and deleted the previous row. But the result is still the same. So I created a new project with the extracted code to demonstrate the problem. Again, table displays only the first line of data. Thanks for any help.

    Hello,

Because of the fixed layout size of PageReport, you are getting single records per page in the table. To make the table show more records, please update the height of the table element accordingly in your report.

Please find the attached report file, implementing the same.

If you need any other help, please let us know.

    Regards,

    Prabhat Sharma.

Thank you, this works. I have one other question. Could you please point me to an example using OverflowPlaceholder control to extend my table to multiple pages?

    Thanks again.

    Hello Jim,

You can check out the following links to see how to use Overflow Placeholder:

    https://developer.mescius.com/activereportsnet/docs/report-authors/report-controls/report-controls-page-rdl-report/overflowplaceholder

    https://developer.mescius.com/activereportsnet/docs/report-authors/design-reports/design-page-rdl-reports/tutorials-page-rdl/create-columnar-reports-with-ovp-control

We’re reviewing your request so we can provide a solution tailored to your specific requirements. As you’ve already identified, the Overflow Placeholder can’t be adjusted for your scenario because it has a fixed size.
