What's New in Spread. NET v14.1
Pittsburgh, PA – May 28th, 2021 GrapeCity, a global provider of award-winning enterprise software development tools, is pleased to announce the Spread. NET v14.1 software release. The highlights of Spread. NET v14.1 includes the new CalculationOnDemandMode and CellValueChanged event, performance improvements for Lookup and Match Functions, new VALUETOTEXT and ARRAYTOTEXT functions, and much more. These features expand developers’ capabilities within their .NET applications when building high-performance enterprise spreadsheets. Spread. NET v14.1 is now available as an upgrade for existing customers and a download for new customers on GrapeCity’s website.
The new CalculationOnDemandMode and CellValueChanged event enhancements provide application developers control over the calculation of on-demand behavior and the recalculation of dependent cells. By setting CalculationOnDemandMode to CalculationOnDemandMode.Off, dependent cells will immediately re-calculate, triggering the new CellValueChanged event for each cell. This event is used to handle changes to calculated cells caused by formulas, which is useful for tracking all workbook changes. To learn more about these new enhancements, visit the release blog.
Performance improvements for Lookup and Match functions introduce a new API specifying CalculationEngine.CacheOptions to optimize the performance of lookup and match functions. This enhancement improves performance using many LOOKUP, HLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, and various other functions in a workbook. The performance improvements are modeled after the recent Excel enhancements to lookup and match functions. By enabling the new optimizations, .NET developers can instantly make workbooks calculate faster than ever before. To learn more about the improvements for Lookup and Match functions, read the release blog.
.NET developers can utilize a few of the new calculation functions introduced in Spread. NET v14.1 to match the new Excel functions for VALUETOTEXT and ARRAYTOTEXT. These functions are available in beta to Microsoft Excel users in the insider's program. VALUETOTEXT and ARRAYTOTEXT operate as in Excel and are handy for formulas and operations on dynamic arrays. In future releases, the Spread. NET team will continue introducing new Excel Functions, such as LAMBDA, and further enhanced sparkline functions. “In this release, we focus on enhancing the calculation engine performance for lookup and match functions, adding support for new calculation functions, adding new API for tracing precedent and dependent cells across worksheets and workbooks, and enhancing event notifications for changes caused by calculations,” said Product Manager, Sean Lawyer. “This release also features customer-requested features such as percentage labels in pie charts, tab strip context menu enhancements for hiding and unhiding worksheets, and enhanced pixel scrolling with the mouse wheel.”
