Hello. I’m Mooseon Choi in charge of Program Manager in M2soft Company in Korea

I recently purchased ComponentOne Ultimate Platinum Edition and am sending an e-mail to ask about about distribution license.

I want to use the Flex Chart on the UI screen of our Server Product.

The homepage says “you’ll receive unlimited, perpetual distribution license”

Could you elaborate a little more?

    Hi Mooseon,

A distribution key is generated according to the hostname on which you will deploy your Wijmo application. This distribution key only works with the domain or hostname for which it has been generated for security reasons othewise Wijmo will throw a license error.

If you have purchased the ComponentOne Ultimate, then your license entitles you to generate unlimited distribution keys for different hostnames. But, you will need to provide all the hostnames associated while generating the distribution key.

Please go through the link below for more information:

    https://www.grapecity.com/licensing/wijmo

Let us know if you still have any doubts.

    Regards,

    Ashwin

    Hi Mooseon,

Can you please confirm whether you are using client-side controls (Wijmo) or server-side controls (MVC or MVCCore)?

If you are using Wijmo, then to license your product, you will need to generate a distribution key using the procedure given in the link in the previous post. You can generate the distribution key for targetted domains from the following link:

    https://www.grapecity.com/my-account/my-licenses#distribution

Once the distribution key is generated, you may copy it and place it in your project as stated in the previous post.

But, if you are using ComponentOne in your project, then you will need to follow a different procedure to license your project.

For MVC or MVCCore application, first you will need to activate the serial key (not the distribution key) in the machine in which you will build your application. You can use the C1LicenseActivation program to register the serial key in your machine:

    • "* “Run the C1LicenseActivation.exe, which is located in ‘C:\Program Files (x86)\ComponentOne\C1StartMenu’.”

    • “Fill the Company, user name and the serial key in the dialog box and click on Next”

      .

    • “If everything is filled correctly, then a dialog box will be displayed saying that your license has been activated.”

      "

Please note that a single serial key can only be activated on maximum of 2 machines.

Now that your serial key is activated, you can build server side applications:

    • "* “Create or open the MVC project that uses ComponentOne controls in VisualStudio.”

    • “From the Tools menu, select GrapeCity > GrapeCity License Manager. The License Manager window will appear.”

    • “Select Create RunTime license from the list of options.”

    • “If asked to Login, then log into the application with your credentials.”

    • “Select the serial key from the list of drop-down options.”

    • “Select the project for which you need to build a license and click on generate.”

    • “Once the license has been generated, a green tick will be shown against project.”

      "

If you are using MVC, then a license.licx file will be created in your project and if you are using MVCCore, then a GCDTLicenses.xml file will be generated. Also, if you have created the project using the C1 templates in Visual Studio, then you may be asked to create a runtime license before the project is loaded.

For more information on how to generate license, you can go through the following links:

Once the license has been generated in either client-side or server-side project, you can develop your application.

    ~regards

    Hi Ashwin

Thank you for your prompt reply

    I’m so sorry, but I didn’t understand.

Our products are distributed to various company servers, and each company has a different host.

The Web screen of the server product distributed to each company will be displayed using Flex Chart.

and, when I asked the Korean branch, it said thay only 100 can be distributed per hostname. but, in https://www.grapecity.com/licensing/generate-distribution-key, there is “you’ll receive unlimited, perpetual distribution license”, which makes me confused.

    Hi,

Thank you for your patience. We are sorry for the inconvenience. You may register up to 100 domains (or more if required) to the Account and generate the distribution key.

Since your application is distributed to several companies, you need to register the domains where they would host the application and set the distribution key in the application.

In case, you reached up to 100 domains, please let us know we will try to add more by requesting to the concerned team.

In case you are not aware of the domain names for your clients, you may get the wild card license which will not take you away from registering the domains for each host. For this, you need to contact the sales teamus.sales@grapecity.com.

    Hope it clear!

    Hi, Manish Gupta

Thank you for your prompt reply

    There are some additional questions.

    1. In case, you reached up to 100 domains, please let us know we will try to add more by requesting to the concerned team.

→ Did I have to make an additional purchase if there are more than 100? Or is it possible to add it for free?

    2. In case you are not aware of the domain names for your clients, you may get the wild card license which will not take you away from registering the domains for each host. For this, you need to contact the sales teamus.sales@grapecity.com.

→ Is it necessary to purchase a wild card license separately, and does it mean that a separate quote is required?

    3. It says that it is licensed under a Commercial License. The contents of the Commercial License are as follows.

"License to Distribute. You are licensed to distribute the SOFTWARE as an incorporated part of your Applications on a royalty-free basis. "

    Hi,

Did I have to make an additional purchase if there are more than 100? Or is it possible to add it for free?

    It should be free.

Is it necessary to purchase a wild card license separately, and does it mean that a separate quote is required?

This is the case when you would not like to generate the distribution key again and again for each domain/application. If you are OK with this, you need not purchase the wild card key.

In case, you are interested, you need to contact the sales to get the quotation.

"License to Distribute. You are licensed to distribute the SOFTWARE as an incorporated part of your Applications on a royalty-free basis. "

    Yes, you are.

    HI,

Thank you so much for your prompt reply

    There are then additional questions.

    1. Is the use of wild card keys free of charge?

    2. If it’s free, how can I use it?

    3. If it’s not free, where should I inquire about the estimate?

    Regards,

    Hi,

We are sorry, we are unaware of the pricing of the Wild Card key. For that, you need to contact the sales teamus.sales@grapecity.com.

Please contact the sales team with your queries regarding Wild card key pricing. Once you get the wild card key, you may use it in your application the same as the generated distribution key.

    Hope it clear!

    Manish Gupta
