Column Heading Line Spacing Issue

We recently upgraded from v8 to v16 and some of our column headings are truncated at the top and bottom line. See screentshot:

I have recreated the issue in a sample project here:

    GridCaptionLineSpacingTest.rar

Please advise how I can fix this. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Scott,

This behavior occurred because of FarPoint.Win.TextRenderer.dll. Since you have updated from v8 to v16 using the NuGet, the FarPoint.Win.TextRenderer.dll will add to the project as default. You can follow the steps below to remove this DLL and get the desired behavior:

    1. Uninstall NuGet of v16 and close the solution.
    2. Remove the bin and obj folder of this project.
    3. Open the solution again and add NuGet V16 package. Make sure to use the parkages.config of Visual Studio.
    4. Expand the references node of the project and remove the FarPoint.Win.TextRenderer.dll.
    5. Build and run the project again.

Here is the GIF that shows the same steps:

    Hope this resolves your issue.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Aastha

We have 170 projects in our solution and they all use the recommended Package References.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/nuget/consume-packages/migrate-packages-config-to-package-reference

How does one go about fixing this issue when using the recommended Package Reference format? Farpoint.Win.TextRenderer.dll just keeps re-appearing in my bin folder - deleting it and running the built app is a work-around, but surely there must be a better way.

EDIT: I should add also that deleting the Farpoint.Win.TextRenderer.dll fixes the column header margin / spacing issue - but it causes all the fonts on the component to change to an undesired font. I’m not sure which font it is, but it’s not the same as when Farpoint.Win.TextRenderer.dll is present.

    Hi Mikes,

We are in discussions with the developers regarding the issue you have mentioned. We will update you on this as soon as we hear back from them.

Unfortunately, we could not replicate the font change issue on our end. Refer the following image to see the difference in behavior:

Please refer to the attached sample for demonstration. GridCaptionLineSpacingTest_Mod.zip

We request you please update the attached sample or provide a small sample application that replicates the issue. Additionally, please provide the following environment details:

    1. OS version
    2. VS version
    3. Exact FpSpread build version
    4. Are you using a VM?
    5. Are you working on RDP?
    6. Display setting of your system.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi Mikes,

Would it help if the developers update the TextHelper API to prohibit the use of TextRenderer? They have proposed the following line of code to address your scenario:

    TextHelper.PreventUsingTextRenderer = true;

If this solution works for you, we can consider including it in future builds.

    Thanks & Regards,

That would be ideal. Please consider this change to a future build.
