We were on AR v17 and are upgrading to v18.

We have everything working fine on our local workstations. However, when we try to run/build on our build server, we get the following error…

Severity Code Description Project File Line Suppression State

    Error Exception occurred creating type ‘GrapeCity.ActiveReports.Viewer.Win.Viewer, MESCIUS.ActiveReports.Viewer.Win, Version=18.2.1.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=cc4967777c49a3ff’ System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception (0x80004005): The RPC server is unavailable

It seems to be a licensing issue, but I’m not sure how to resolve this one.

Note: if our licenses.licx file has this line

    GrapeCity.ActiveReports.Viewer.Win.Viewer, MESCIUS.ActiveReports.Viewer.Win

it throws the error during build time. If it doesn’t, it throws the error during run-time.

    Hi Carl,

For licensing build agents and pipelines, please refer to the attached documentation link, and it should help: Licensing Build Agents/Pipelines using Command Line

We hope this helps! Let us know if you have any further questions or face any issues in the licensing process.

I see that might be needed for automated builds. However, even when I’m logged into the server and try to build the solution using Visual Studio 2022, I’m still getting that error.
