GrapeCity Documents 2022 Roadmap
From multiple API enhancements to covering full document reviewing and signing features, 2021 has seen many new additions to the GrapeCity Documents product line.
We thank our customers for their responses and feature requests during the last year. We learned about their document workflow requirements and continually worked on delivering those requests throughout the year.
With 3 major releases and 15+ customer-centric maintenance releases last year, GrapeCity Documents continues to serve Document API and automation needs in business applications.
As we step into the new year, GrapeCity Documents is on its path to offer enhanced feature-rich, faster, and efficient Document APIs and viewer components, additionally providing multiplied value when combined together.
We are excited to share our plans for the year 2022! Have a look at some key highlights of the new features you can expect.
GrapeCity Documents for PDF
With GrapeCity Documents for PDF (GcPdf), we are moving on the path of providing complete PDF solutions to our customers. Here are the additional features you can expect in 2022:
- Updating data in PDF documents
- Digital Signature enhancements
- Enhancements in PDF to SVG conversion
- Enhanced support for optional content (layers)
- Fuller coverage of PDF spec
GrapeCity Documents JavaScript PDF Viewer
A pure JavaScript client-side control, GcDocs PDF Viewer (GcPdfViewer), supports viewing and editing PDF documents as well as enabling sharing and collaborating over PDF documents in web applications.
Last year we took these features further ahead to complete full document workflows, i.e. added features that allowed adding stamps and signing various corporate, financial, health, real estate documents on the web, as well as viewing PDF Layers in, for example, Architectural design or multi-language documents. In 2022, we now plan to cover features that will help in creating PDF documents within the PDF Viewer as well as easy extraction of data from PDF documents. Following features are planned -
- Managing PDF pages in Viewer in edit mode
- Annotation feature enhancements
- Enhancements to PDF Layers panel.
- Multiple enhancements to editing features
- Content recognition from PDF documents
GrapeCity Documents for Excel
GrapeCity Documents for Excel (GcExcel) is a detailed Excel API based on Excel's document object model, that allows you to generate and work with .xlsx spreadsheets with fast performance, small footprint in .NET 6 applications.
We extend the feature set to make it possible to achieve more complex use cases for your Excel spreadsheets. Documents for Excel (GcExcel) is available in both .NET and Java with the same feature parity and performance. Here are our next plans -
- Enhanced ImportData function to import only data from Excel files
- Import/Export JSON
- Enhanced GcExcel Templates support
- Load and transform data from multiple sources
- Support for more MS Excel features
- More features for GrapeCity SpreadJS integration
GrapeCity Documents for Word
We have been working on GrapeCity Documents for Word (GcWord) to support a significant part of the Word object model as well as move it to the path of generating dynamic Word reports from GcWord Report templates support without the need to re-create Word reports from scratch.
In the year 2022, you can expect GcWord to solve many business use cases as well as save the reports in your preferred format.
- Cover a significant part of Microsoft Word API.
- Add more features to GcWord Report Templates
- Markdown .md to Word conversion
- Word to PDF conversion enhancements
GrapeCity Documents for Imaging
GrapeCity Documents for Imaging (GcImaging) is an imaging library supporting exclusive algorithms for image processing. Last year, we introduced SVG image format, another addition to the formats supported in GcImaging. Plan for 2022 includes:
- More features in SVG Image format support
- Enhanced image rendering performance
- Programmatic image customizations
- More real-time samples and services that demonstrate image processing features
