ActiveAnalysis Script 3 – Shapes and Trend Lines on Charts

1) Continuing with the Silverlight Viewer Sample in Part 2… Remove GCP Purchasing Power Parity Category. To remove a control, drag if from the Columns or Rows to the chart area. It will disappear. Or if starting fresh, run the Silverlight viewer from the Start Button, GrapeCity | ActiveAnalysis | Viewer | Silverlight Viewer, and connect to Factbook: LifeExpectancy

2) Press the Clear Layout button if continuing from Part 2

3) Drag (measure) % Literacy to Columns

4) Drag (measure) Life Expectancy to Rows

5) Drag (attribute) Areas to Level of Detail. Level of Detail shows a data point for each level (without a level of detail you get one aggregated point). You will see auto shape change to bubble. Hover over a point with the mouse to see the detail.

6) Drag Area from Level of Detail to color and you should get the same graph w colors and a color legend.

7) Remove Areas from Color Encodings. Drag (attribute) Area to Level of Detail and Drag (attribute) County below it. Right click and select Show trend lines. The older they can live the more likely they can read.

8) Hover over data point and you will see the value.

9) Right click on the chart and select aggregated data and underlining data.

Question: What’s the difference between Power Pivot on Analysis Services vs. ActiveAnalysis?
Answer: ActiveAnalysis is a component and can be programmatically controlled.
