GrapeCity sponsors very successful Sarasota BarCamp!

The Sarasota BarCamp provided education and networking to over 300 attendees this past weekend! Topics included SEO, Facebook, Facebook Advertising , You Tube , Phone 7, MVC 3, Razor and Web Helpers.aspx) (which was really cool, btw). When I was at Microsoft, I remember when I did my first MSDN Event in Sarasota in 2003. We had 35 attendees. This community has really grown and is very active in southwest Florida. Session presenters included: Sara Hand, Tracy Ingram, Stan Schultes, Russ Fustino, Tracy Wittenkeller, Dan Sherman, Victor Sumskoy, Thao Tran and many more. A great time was had by all. I have never seen so many people scanning Microsoft tags and QR Codes on business cards at the social following the event at The Mad Crow. What a great “tweetend” (“did I just invent that word?”) this has been! The Sarasota Barcamp organizers had all the social media covered (see photo below).

MVP Stan Schultes (left) and Sara Hand (Center – standing next to Russ) and several attendees, organizers, presenters and volunteers took a moment to pose for a GrapeCity photo as a thanks to the sponsorship. Nice group shot!

Social media seemed to dominate the conference in one way or another, from Tag reader contests to all the social media seen here on this sign.

Victor Sumskoy is pictured here right after delivering his session on MVC3 and Web Helpers. He created an page that consumed and displayed a twitter feed with just a few lines of code! See Victor Sumskoy’s site for details. Many business card tags were scanned at the after party social.
