After a long and successful trip to Darmstadt, Germany for the BASTA! Spring 2011 Conference where GrapeCity joined forces with TX TextControl via our Document Automation Alliance, I have fully recovered and I’m back to work in the familiar surroundings of GrapeCity USA.

Thanks to all the attendees who stopped by our booth to discuss our products and technologies, and congratulations to the lucky attendee who won a free license of Spread for Windows Forms at end-of-conference raffle.

Even though I am a little light on my German, it was very interesting to attend the "Let's get ready to rumble: HTML5 vs. Silverlight!" event with Jörg Neumann vs. Dariusz Parys. The enthusiasm of the "boxers" and the audience was energizing and exciting. Coincidently, the 10 round bout ending in a 5-5 tie which I think is an interesting result. My initial thought was, does the tie indicate the future side-by-side competition between the technologies. Are HTML5 and Silverlight set on paths that will keep them in a head-to-head rivalry, or will both technologies exist independently, and with equal developer support? It will be interesting to see where this story goes.

It was very nice visiting Germany, for my first time. Even though I spent most of the week within the Maritim Hotel and on the conference floor, I was able to escape from the hotel on the evening following the end of the conference for a scenic walk around town with my hosts, Bjorn and Christopher from TX TextControl - thanks for a fun week guys!

GrapeCity's sponsorship and presence at TechEd Europe in Berlin in November 2010, and the BASTA! Spring 2011 conference should serve as a clear indicator of our excitement in sharing information about our products with the enthusiastic German developers throughout Europe. I look forward to GrapeCity’s future trips to conferences in Germany! Please be sure to stop by our booth and find out more about GrapeCity PowerTools!

Until then, we encourage you to start building smarter applications with GrapeCity PowerTools.
