2019 Roadmap for ActiveReports .NET Reporting Solution

Last year, Bhupesh wrote the 2018 ActiveReports roadmap about GrapeCity’s focus for BI and reporting being on improved performance and usability. On the ActiveReports team, we spent the entire year working on delivering the vision we had set for ourselves. With the fruits of that labor released just a week ago, we’ve started 2019 with a bang.

In ActiveReports 13, we not only delivered a web-based report designer—we also developed a fast new JavaScript-based report viewer, new charts for improved performance on the web, enabled design-time rendering in the FormattedText control for improved usability, and many more enhancements to make your life easier.

As we forge ahead into 2019, we have several objectives in mind.

Facilitate Easier Data Visualization

In today’s business climate, we're constantly reminded that data is king. Data is what enables all of the amenities we enjoy on a daily basis, from our virtual assistants to securing our homes and properties to helping farmers produce the foods we eat. At GrapeCity, we like to do our part to help you manage and share your data. One of our goals is to make it easier for you to show off your data in ActiveReports.

Improve Web Technologies

As technologies like PWAs and JavaScript continue to grow in popularity, our second focus for 2019 will be to enhance our web offerings. We will continue our adoption of JavaScript and .NET Core.

Enhance PDF Export

As always, we love hearing from users. And we love, even more, responding to their needs. So when users asked for enhancements to our PDF Export, we were more than happy to oblige. Thus, for 2019, we have added a few PDF export enhancements to our roadmap, including AcroForms and PDF FontFactory improvements.

In addition to these, we're planning several other features—such as report templates—that we know you’ll love. We would love to hear from you with your vote for your favorite features. And if there's a feature that you'd like to suggest, please leave it in the comments below.
