This blog is the 4th in a series of blogs on ActiveAnalysis.

Part 1 Create an Analysis App from Scratch

Part 3 Shapes and Trend Lines on Charts

3) This is an Excel based data source. The Local Cube feature is used, which allows us to pre-process all of our data and shove it into a format that our control can readily read, so I makes it much faster to load all of our data up.

4) Drag (Attribute) Sale Date to Columns

5) Drag (Attribute) Location (Expand Attributes) to Rows

6) Drag (Measure) Sales Price to Encodings

7) We are looking at an excel view… (Numbers). Drag Sales Price from Label to Columns and graphs appear!

8) Drag (Attribute) Sale Date to Filters and select 2007.

9) Expand Year to show Quarters…

10) Right click on Filters to show Quick filter lets you toggle on or off: (everything is done visually)

11) With exception of wiring up the data source … everything is in the ActiveAnalysis control! Pretty powerful, huh?

In Part 5 we will look at the Data Window (Card or Tray).
