Wijmo 2021 Roadmap

What's Down the Road in 2021

2020 was another incredible year for Wijmo, and we are excited to share our plans for 2021. In addition to working to improve Wijmo and adding the features you want, we'll continue to keep pace with industry changes in frameworks and technologies.

Wijmo roadmap

In 2021, we're focusing on:

  • Continuing to work with customers to improve Wijmo and add new features
  • Focus on high quality with each release by expanding our test automation
  • More investment into Angular, React, and Vue interops
    • Richer API Reference docs for React and Vue
    • New CLI tools for generating apps and views in different frameworks
    • CellTemplates for MultiRow
  • Continue to improve on our documentation and API reference
  • Build more Reference Applications to showcase Wijmo in real-world usage
  • Invest in FlexGrid features and performance
    • Placeholder for displaying in a grid when empty
    • GrandTotal displayed at the top (optional)
    • and more
  • Enhance OLAP PivotChart with drill-down
  • Expand our Navigation module with the new Ribbon control
  • Support BiDirectional (BiDi) languages in PDF module
  • Develop new Visualization Map control

You might notice that a few items from our 2020 roadmap did not get released and have carried over into 2021. In 2020, we decided to slow down a bit and put a big effort into quality. So we spent that time building up our unit and UI test suites, as well as implementing more rigorous QA cycles. Wijmo is already a high-quality product with an incredible customer base. We are committed to keeping it stable and of the highest quality as we expand it. It always a challenge to balance speed with quality, and this past year we leaned hard toward quality. Now, it's on to 2021 and building some big new features!

As always, much of what we focused on in 2020 was based on you, our customers. Our roadmap is always customer-driven, and 2021 will be no different. We spend a lot of our time working with our customers to understand their use cases and needs. Many of our customers request controls or features directly. We work with them to create requirements, build a prototype, and get feedback before releasing publicly.

If you have something interesting that you want to bring to our attention, we would love to hear it!
