SYD

This function returns the sum-of-years’ digits depreciation of an asset for a specified period.

Syntax

SYD(cost, salvage, life, period)

Arguments

This function has these arguments:

cost

[Required] Initial cost of the asset

salvage

[Required] Value at the end of the depreciation

life

[Required] Number of periods over which the asset is being depreciated

period

[Required] Period for depreciation; must use the same units as the life argument.

Remarks

This function calculates the digits depreciation as follows:



Examples

SYD(B1,1000,10,1)

SYD(R1C2,1000,10,1)

SYD(100000,10000,5,2) gives the result 24,000
