    The Group dialog allows you to group the data by rows and columns that helps you summarize large datasets and create custom views in a worksheet. It is particularly useful for establishing hierarchical relationships between rows and columns. This Group dialog is located in the Outline group under the Data tab.

    The following GIF shows the grouping of data by rows in a worksheet using the Group dialog.

    This dialog consists of the following items:

    Item Description
    Rows Creates a group for the selected rows.
    Columns Creates a group for the selected columns.

    Outline Settings Dialog

    The Settings dialog located in the Outline group under the Data tab allows you to manage the grouping feature by specifying where the summary row or column should be placed.

    This dialog consists of the following items:

    Item Description
    Summary rows below detail Enable this checkbox if you want to place the summary rows below a group of detailed rows.
    Summary columns to right of detail Enable this checkbox if you want to place the summary columns on the right side of the detailed columns they summarize.
