The Group dialog allows you to group the data by rows and columns that helps you summarize large datasets and create custom views in a worksheet. It is particularly useful for establishing hierarchical relationships between rows and columns. This Group dialog is located in the Outline group under the Data tab.

This dialog consists of the following items:

| Rows | Creates a group for the selected rows. |
| Columns | Creates a group for the selected columns. |
The Settings dialog located in the Outline group under the Data tab allows you to manage the grouping feature by specifying where the summary row or column should be placed.

| Summary rows below detail | Enable this checkbox if you want to place the summary rows below a group of detailed rows. |
| Summary columns to right of detail | Enable this checkbox if you want to place the summary columns on the right side of the detailed columns they summarize. |
