The Data Validation dialog allows you to create data validation rules that can prevent other users from entering invalid data in specific cells. Additionally, you can also set alerts that can be displayed on entering invalid data. To access this dialog, click on the Data Validation button in the Data Tools group under the Data tab and select the Data Validation... option from the the dropdown.
The dialog includes the following tabs:

| Settings | Provides options to create a validation rule. |
| Input Message | Provides options to create a message that explains what data can be entered into a cell. |
| Error Alert | Provides options to create a message that appears when invalid data is entered. |
