    Occurs when the control receives data that cannot be formatted according to the current format and edit mask settings.

    Event Data

    The event handler receives an argument of type FormatErrorEventArgs containing data related to this event. The following FormatErrorEventArgs properties provide information specific to this event.

    PropertyDescription
    ErrorMessageGets or sets the error description shown as the tooltip in the ErrorProvider icon, if ErrorInfo.ErrorProvider property is set.  
    FormatInfoGets the FormatInfo object that fired the event.  
    TargetGets the value that indicating formatting target (ForEdit or ForDisplay).  
    TextGets or sets the text to show in the control. Your code in FormatError event can set this argument to a text you want to show in the control in case of a formatting error.  
    ValueGets the source value for formatting.
