# CUMPRINC

## Content

This function returns the cumulative principal paid on a loan between the start and end periods.

## Syntax

`CUMPRINC(rate, nper, pval, startperiod, endperiod, paytype)`

## Arguments

This function has these arguments:

| Argument | Description |
| -------- | ----------- |
| *rate* | [Required] Interest rate |
| *nper* | [Required] Total number of payment periods |
| *pval* | [Required] Present value |
| *startperiod* | [Required] Starting period |
| *endperiod* | [Required] Ending period |
| *paytype* | [Required] Type of payment timing; can be any of: |
|  | 0 - Payment at end of the period |
|  | 1 - Payment at beginning of the period |

## Remarks

This function returns a #NUM! error when *rate*, *nper*, or *pval* is negative or zero. *Nper*, *startperiod*, *endperiod*, and *paytype* are truncated to integers.

* If *startperiod* or *endperiod* is less than 1 or *startperiod* is greater than *endperiod*, a #NUM! error is returned.
* If *paytype* is a number other than 0 or 1, a #NUM! error is returned.
