# Key Features

## Content

Some of the key features of True DbGrid that you may find useful include the following:

* **Develop Apps with Minimum Code**
<br>
    True DBGrid provides rich design-time features, including smart tags, editors and context menu that lets users with minimal coding skills to create intuitive grid applications. Explore the [design-time support](/componentone/docs/win/online-truedbgrid/design-time) in TrueDBGrid to learn application development using grid designers.
* **Present Multiple Data Views**
<br>
    There are multiple data presentation formats supported in TrueDBGrid, that is best for your users, such as GroupBy View, Hierarchical Data Display, standard Microsoft Outlook-style grouping, Form View, Inverted View etc. Learn more about such data views from the [Views](/componentone/docs/win/online-truedbgrid/views) topic.
* **Advanced Data Display**
<br>
    Enhance the data displayed in the grid by adding a variety of in-cell objects, including bitmaps, command buttons, check boxes, and radio buttons.
* **Show Splits in Grid**
<br>
    Display Excel-like splits that lets you split the grid horizontally, vertically, or both using the TrueDBGrid control. Using splits, users can split the grid into two scrollable, independent panes to analyze large data portions. Learn more about the split feature in [Split Presentation](/componentone/docs/win/online-truedbgrid/split-presentation).
* **Built-In Dropdown Controls**
<br>
    The grid control provides support for a variety of drop-down objects for data entry, including the multicolumn control TrueDBDropDown, combo box, and multi-line text editor. True DBGrid also supports third-party drop-down controls. To learn more about dropdown controls, explore the [Dropdown Controls](/componentone/docs/win/online-truedbgrid/cells/cell-editing/dropdown-controls) topic.
* **Unbound Grids**
<br>
    TrueDBGrid not only lets you create data-bound grids, but unbound grids as well. Moreover, you can even add unbound columns to a bound grid.
* **Freeze Columns**
<br>
    Create frozen columns anywhere in the grid. Freezing the columns prevents the column headers of the grid from scrolling out of the user's view while analyzing extensive data. Learn more about freezing columns in the [Basic Operations](/componentone/docs/win/online-truedbgrid/columns/column-basic-operations) topic.
* **Merge Cells**
<br>
    Merge adjacent like-valued cells within sorted column(s) for better grid readability. TrueDbGrid provides Free Merge and Restricted Merge. To learn more about merging, check out the [Merge](/componentone/docs/win/online-truedbgrid/merge) topic.
* **Excel-Style Cell Selection**
<br>
    TrueDBGrid lets you select not only any row or column, but also any range of cells just like the cell selection feature in Excel sheets. Learn more about selection in TrueDBGrid from the [Selection](/componentone/docs/win/online-truedbgrid/selection) topic.
* **Input Masking**
<br>
    Assign input templates to columns in order to simplify the run-time data entry process and reduce end-user data entry errors. Learn more about the [input masking](/componentone/docs/win/online-truedbgrid/cells/cell-editing/input-masking) feature here.
* **AutoComplete Function**
<br>
    Reduce the number of keystrokes needed for drop-down selection with the AutoDropdown and AutoCompletion properties and simplify the end-user data entry.
* **Easy Column and Row Resizing**
<br>
    Keep your data viewable by resizing columns and rows proportionately whenever the grid is resized horizontally.
* **Grouping, Filtering and Searching**
<br>
    True DBGrid supports a GroupBy DataView that enables standard Microsoft Outlook-style grouping. The Grid also implements custom end-user operations like incremental search and recordset filtering using a filter bar, which is a special data entry row below the column headers. Learn more about these features from the [Group](/componentone/docs/win/online-truedbgrid/group), [Filter](/componentone/docs/win/online-truedbgrid/filter) and [Search](/componentone/docs/win/online-truedbgrid/search) topics.
* **Data Translation**
<br>
    Automatically translate database values into alternate text or graphics without any coding in the grid. To learn more about data translation feature in TrueDBGrid, refer the [Translate](/componentone/docs/win/online-truedbgrid/translate) topic.
* **Right-To-Left Support**
<br>
    TrueDBGrid fully supports Right-To-Left or RTL layout for languages that follow RTL writing system, such as Arabic and Hebrew cultures. Learn more about RTL in the [RTL Support](/componentone/docs/win/online-truedbgrid/rtl-support) topic.
* **Multiple Export and Extensive Print Options**
<br>
    Export your grid to different formats including Delimited Text, Excel (XLS and XLSX), PDF, HTML, RTF, and more. True DBGrid also gives you control over features such as zoom, fit in window, stop pagination, and print preview. You can learn more about Exporting and Printing grid by exploring the [Export](/componentone/docs/win/online-truedbgrid/export) and [Print](/componentone/docs/win/online-truedbgrid/print) topics.

> **Note**: **TrueDBGrid**'s export and printing features uses the [C1.Win.Printing NuGet package](https://developer.mescius.com/componentone/docs/win/online-printdocument/overview), which provides three libraries: C1.PrintDocument, C1.Win.PrintPreview and C1.Win.RibbonPreview. Each library provides a set of previewing controls or components. The [PrintDocument](https://developer.mescius.com/componentone/docs/win/online-printdocument/overview) library provides the PrintDocument and MultiDocument components, the **PrintPreview** library provides the PreviewOutlineView, PreviewPane, PreviewTextSearchPanel, Thumbnail, PrintPreviewControl and PrintPreviewDialog components, and **RibbonPreview** provides the RibbonPreview and RibbonPreviewDialog components. Since C1Report is now obsolete, make sure that the references for C1Report libraries is replaced by individual library references in the C1.Win.Printing NuGet.

* **Styling**
<br>
    TrueDBGrid provides various properties to enhance the appearance in different ways based on the requirements of the user. The control offers both Visual styles and Built-in Named styles for this purpose. Learn to style your grid in the [Appearance and Styling](/componentone/docs/win/online-truedbgrid/appearance-styling) topic.
