# Work with Dictionary Files

The **SpellChecker for WinForms** distribution CD includes a **C1SpellChecker Dictionary Editor** called **C1DictionaryEditor.4.exe** that allows you to create and maintain dictionary files (.dct). You can use it to add words to the main dictionary or to create new dictionaries in languages other than English.

The installation utility copies the **C1DictionaryEditor.4.exe** program to the ComponentOne directory you specify during the installation process (by default it installs to the **C:\\Program Files (x86)\\ComponentOne\\Apps\\v4.0** directory). When you run **C1DictionaryEditor.4.exe**, you will see the following on your screen:

The utility is simple and easy to use. It is used to perform two functions:

*   Open existing .dct files and add words or word lists. You can find the dictionary files (.dct) at the following location:<br />**C:\\Program Files (x86)\\ComponentOne\\Dictionaries**
*   Create new .dct files.
